Tree Canopy House

Set on the edge of the Peak District, this self-build replacement dwelling faced significant site constraints—including 3.5T limited access. Our solution? A platform timber frame, pre-fabricated by a local joiner and delivered via pickup and trailer for seamless on-site assembly. By designing for buildability, we enabled the installation of European spruce glulam portal frames—creating a stunning 5m vaulted living space—without the need for a crane. Precision-detailed timber box beams allowed for cantilevered corner glazing and entrance canopies, delivering both elegance and efficiency. Tree Canopy House demonstrates timber framing offers exceptional flexibility for challenging sites.
