Traeth Bychan

Traeth Bychan is a coastal development near Benllech, Anglesey that has 9 apartments and 9 houses designed for families that want to get the most out of living on the coast. We were appointed to provide civil and structural engineering for the superstructure, substructure and drainage systems.

Set in a popular location on the coast, the homes are positioned to capture the incredible sea views while blending into the natural landscape. The design required structural solutions that support open plan layouts and large windows, while ensuring resilience against the different weather conditions.

We engineered a mix of load-bearing masonry walks and steel framing to achieve generous internal spaces and uninterrupted views. Precast concrete floors provide strength, while shallow foundations were tailored to local ground conditions. Our civil design included a robust drainage strategy to manage surface water and protect against coastal flooding.

From early feasibility to technical delivery, we wanted to make sure that every structural element worked in harmony with Buju Architect’s designs. By using BIM coordination, we were able to keep the project running smoothly and on time while communication and meetings kept issues

Traeth Bychan is a fantastic development that places a lot of emphasis on the happiness and wellbeing on those who will be living there. The architect also put in storage solutions for bikes that will help reduce reliance on cars and allow the development to become even more sustainable, along with electric vehicle charging points to help it become futureproof. These houses will be wonderful family homes for those who will live there, and we’re delighted to have been a part of it.
