The Lookout Point

In a small village close to Anglesey, the Lookout Point is comprised of 6 high-end holiday homes. DYSE was appointed for both civil and structural engineering services for the superstructure, substructure and drainage systems.

This development is on a prominent coastal plot, boasting dramatic views over the Irish Sea. To maximise panoramic views, the design was flipped – with living spaces on the top floor. This meant we needed to design a structural solution that support vaulted ceilings and large windows, while being able to withstand the harsh coastal conditions.

We combined load-bearing masonry walls with cut timber and steel roof structures to create beautiful, vaulted ceilings. Precast concrete floors span between masonry walls for strength and efficiency. Foundations were designed as shallow bearing to suit local ground conditions, and we delivered a below ground drainage system to manage the challenging weather conditions.

DYSE worked with Buju Architects and the contractor to make sure that the solutions we designed worked for everyone involved in the project.

The Lookout Point has created homes that feel open and connected to their landscape whilst being completely grounded in their foundations.
