57-63 Princess Street is within the heart of Manchester’s historic conservation area. The existing purpose-built office block is to be converted into a city centre hostel with ground floor café and bar. The six-storey building is steel framed with historic concrete floors. The stone clad façade is formed in an early example of reinforced concrete.

DYSE have been commissioned to undertake structural design for the proposed scheme. The scheme involves inspection and assessment of the existing historic structure, and structural interventions including addition of a new lift, amendment of the existing lift, and formation of new voids within the existing floor slabs.
